Your swallowed thoughts to begin each day
Regurgitated after spasms of time
Stuck in my throat like salivary intentions of manipulation twisted to and fro
Swelled in the bellies of a sweetened sorrow
Suffocate serenity within these infinite bounds of tomorrow…
Dwelling only from a bed of what’s to follow
and in the end
to plead with the Gods for release of purpose and will
to bring redemption to the gracile.

My friend Kathleen and I went on a drive this past month. We were visiting Farm Sanctuary in Orland California. She has a passion for photography, so she joined me to capture the event on film.
Out on the highway towards Chico, we began talking about the economy. We started to discuss the recession and how it seems to be snowballing into a depression. Trying to understand each others perspective and gossip we each had heard. She asked if I had heard the news about tent cities in Sacramento, Ca. and other parts of America? We began gauging how long our families would last if we lost our jobs. How long before we’d become homeless? It could be almost any of us. Sometimes, you have to dig deep to find the good. Other times, it’s right there on the surface and you just don’t see it. In the past month I have been researching micro economies and barter systems through local organic farming, it is amazing to me how many of our problems are connected and most likely solvable.
I.E. We have to fight foreign wars to maintain our hold on foreign oil. If we decrease our dependence on foreign oil, we will decrease our need to engage with them.
It can get crazy raising families, working, commuting, making ends meet, working out, running errands, along with all the other parts of life that gets tossed in. Can’t get a break on TV either…The economy has stretched us far and wide.
The list of things that we can use to scapegoat all our problems towards is endless. Whether it’s Bernie Madoff making off with the Zillions or Sen. Dodd slipping in last minute alterations that give away millions to AIG Executives; it is clear to me that we are endangered more than ever because we depend on corporations to sustain us and politicians to protect us. Both Party’s are impotent. When a Republican chooses to run a campaign for president, they run on libertarian ideals that Democrats consider juvenile. No one wants to talk about it, but it’s all right there in front of us. Both of these forms of government are working together to form one continuous uniquely American form of capitalistic aristocracy, and it doesn’t include us.
We will have to Unite if we wish to survive this.
